DrawMol 1.3.25 - Visualize and build molecular structures.

MacUpdate - Mac OS X - Sat, 01/13/2018 - 17:38

DrawMol is a powerful graphical interface to visualize and build molecular structures.

  • Build a molecular structure from scratch
    • Build a structure by clicking and dragging to add atoms and bonds.
    • You can then refine your structure in one click using UFF force field optimizationWhen building a structure, DrawMol can guess for you the type of bonds (single, double, triple or aromatic bonds) or you can force it by clicking on a bond.
    • Moreover, hydrogen atoms can be added automatically
    • Save your structure in xyz format or build a gaussian or gamess input file directly.
    • For Gamess, if the program is installed locally, you can even launch the job from DrawMol (in the background) and follow the progression of the job.
    • Paste directly a structure into the Cartesian Editor of DrawMolIt can recognize XYZ, Gaussian, Gamess, Turbomole and Z-matrix formats.
    • The Cartesian Editor can also be used to output the structure in any of these formats as well as to modify a given structure by adding/removing some atoms or by changing a given atom element.
    • Import a structure from ChemSpider database
  • Visualize molecular structure as well as molecular properties
    • Open XYZ, MDL molfile, Gaussian log, Gaussian fchk, Gamess log, Dalton out, Molpro out file formats.
    • In addition to the molecular structure, DrawMol can read various molecular properties (for now only available for Gaussian fchk file format):
      • Mulliken charges
      • Dipole moment
      • Polarizability and first-hyperpolarizability
      • Vibrational normal modes
      • Magnetic shieldings (NMR)
      • Molecular Orbitals from the basis set and LCAO coefficients
      • Visualize molecular properties:
      • Atom labels
      • Mulliken Charges
      • NMR chemical shifts
      • Dipole moment vector
      • Beta vector
      • Unit sphere representation of the polarizability and hyperpolarizability
      • Atomic displacements of a vibrational normal modes via vectors, spheres or even animation
      • Molecular Orbital isosurfaces
      • Open gaussian cube files and visualize isosurfaces of the stored date.
  • In addition, DrawMol provide some tools to:
    • Make two molecules or fragments to coincide with each other using a matching procedure (least-square approach)
    • Orient the Z axis of a molecule to be either perpendicular to a plane made by three or more atoms or going through two or more atoms using a least-square approach.
  • Save any structure
    • As a picture either in png, tiff, jpeg or dae (Collada)
    • As a movie for the animation of the normal modes
    • As a XYZ, CIF, PDB files
    • As a limol fileThis format is basically a HDF5 container ( that store all the molecular properties as well as the visualization preferences.
    • This file can be read by DrawMol but can also be parsed easily using the C, Fortran, Python, … and even dump (with lidump utility) into a ascii file (See for more details).

Duplicate Photo Cleaner - $39.95

MacUpdate - Mac OS X - Sat, 01/13/2018 - 04:18

Duplicate Photo Cleaner is an advanced app to find and manage duplicate and similar images. Unlike similar software, it has an intelligent algorithm that compares your images just like a human would, which means that it finds more duplicates and similar photos than any other app. You have full control over the program's settings and can specify the level of similarity that is sufficient to consider photos to be duplicates. You can then compare them at a glance, keep your best shots and delete the rest in just one click.

Duplicate Photo Cleaner uses "Content-Based Image Retrieval", or "CBIR" for short. CBIR analyzes actual image content and uses the information gathered to compare images. This way Duplicate Photo Cleaner compares images that were resized, edited, cropped and converted to other formats.

No matter how large your photo collection is and how many duplicates there are, Duplicate Photo Cleaner makes it easy to find and delete them. It supports all popular image formats and has several different scan modes to fit your needs. Duplicate Photo Cleaner seamlessly integrates with Photos and iPhoto, which makes it perfect for managing duplicate photos on your Mac.

Version Changes:
  • Improved image processing
  • Added EXIF metadata to the results
  • Reduced the size of the installer
  • Multiple UI enhancements
  • Minor bug fixes

Strukt 1.5.2 - Analyze any tabular data.

MacUpdate - Mac OS X - Sat, 01/13/2018 - 03:01

Strukt allows you to process or analyze any tabular data you have, any way you want, and see the results right away. No need to load it into a database. Just put some operations together, and see the result right away.

  • Pull data from files, folder listings, URLs, the clipboard, Git repositories, and more
  • Parse CSV, TSV, XLSX, JSON, log files, SQLite, and others
  • View as a table, a 2D chart, plain text, HTML, or a map
  • Use real data types: strings, numbers, booleans, dates, locations, colors, blobs, nulls
  • Updates in real time, as you edit the pipeline steps
  • Keyboard-friendly
  • Actual online user manual

Version 1.5.2: Operation Updates:
  • New operations "Decode Text->Bytes" and "Encode Bytes->Text", for binary-in-text encoding. Currently only Base64 is supported. (Not to be confused with "Decode Bytes->Text" and "Encode Text->Bytes", which are for character encodings.)
  • "Parse Location" now handles GeoJSON and Geohash formats, too. The "Parse GeoJSON" operation was removed, since it no longer served a purpose.
  • "Parse Excel Workbook" is a bit smarter (and faster), so you won't see empty rows at the end of your document.
Other Updates:
  • On double-click in an empty area of the pipeline, add a new operation there, and start editing it.
  • Show a proper error message, when trying to load a Strukt pipeline file from a newer version than we support.
  • There's a new sample pipeline, "Data Type Sampler", which shows an example of each Strukt data type.
  • In the table view, the "unset" stripes have a nicer transparency effect, when selected.
  • Creating a new non-empty document (like by drag-n-drop onto the Dock icon, or with "New Pipeline with File...")" now marks the document as "modified", so you'll get a chance to save it, when you close it.
  • When dragging some text to the Dock icon, Strukt is now more discriminating about what qualifies as a URL (must be a URL scheme that Strukt can handle).

Visual Studio Code 1.19.2 - Cross-platform code editor and debugger for web apps.

MacUpdate - Mac OS X - Sat, 01/13/2018 - 01:31

Visual Studio Code provides developers with a new choice of developer tool that combines the simplicity and streamlined experience of a code editor with the best of what developers need for their core code-edit-debug cycle. Visual Studio Code is the first code editor, and first cross-platform development tool - supporting OSX, Linux, and Windows - in the Visual Studio family.

At its heart, Visual Studio Code features a powerful, fast code editor great for day-to-day use. The Preview release of Code already has many of the features developers need in a code and text editor, including navigation, keyboard support with customizable bindings, syntax highlighting, bracket matching, auto indentation, and snippets, with support for dozens of languages.

For serious coding, developers often need to work with code as more than just text. Visual Studio Code includes built-in support for always-on IntelliSense code completion, richer semantic code understanding and navigation, and code refactoring. In the Preview, Code includes enriched built-in support for ASP.NET 5 development with C#, and Node.js development with TypeScript and JavaScript, powered by the same underlying technologies that drive Visual Studio. Code includes great tooling for web technologies such as HTML, CSS, LESS, SASS, and JSON. Code also integrates with package managers and repositories, and builds and other common tasks to make everyday workflows faster. And Code understands Git, and delivers great Git workflows and source diffs integrated with the editor.

Version 1.19.2: The update addresses these issues:
  • Cannot compare changes for git conflicts after upgrade to 1.19.
  • Missing icons in activity bar.
  • Workbench doesn't finish loading when Extensions viewlet is first to load.

Station 1.5.1 - Multilevel launcher with organization by folder.

MacUpdate - Mac OS X - Sat, 01/13/2018 - 00:54

Station is a multi-level (hierarchical) launcher that promotes a more natural organization of applications and documents into folders. With nested folders, you can arrange items in Station in a way that fits your workflow with an uncluttered look and feel. Scalability is greatly increased through logical groupings thus increasing the sheer number of items that can be added to Station without having to shrink the launcher size. Productivity is increased because related items can be grouped together into a single folder. For example, one folder can contain work related items and another folder gaming items. Another useful feature of Station is the ability to launch, all at once, the items in a launch folder. This is useful when switching between tasks like business and spreadsheets to graphics work. With ten levels of folders available, enough space is provided to spread out even the most diverse set of applications and documents. Station also implements scrollbars when a launch panel exceeds the width or height of the screen. This design also does away with the need for magnification or shrinking the height of the launch panel so your icons remain one height thus making them more readable.

  • Up to ten levels of folders can be shown.
  • The size of the icons can range from 24 to 64 points.
  • An alias folder can be created from any existing folder.
  • Display panels can be justified to the left, center, or right.
  • Icons can be assigned to folders to give them a more distinctive feel.
  • All applications and documents in a folder can be launched all at once.
  • Station can be displayed on the left, right or bottom side of the screen.
  • Folders automatically open after a short delay when you drag items over them.
  • Station can be displayed statically (always shown) or automatically hidden when not needed.
  • The display name of a folder can be renamed (e.g. "untitled" to "Graphics").
  • Scrollbar support for launch panels that exceed screen dimensions.
  • Embedded open folder icon can now be either blue or red.
  • Auto collapse of folders after launch of an item.
  • Select any color for the panel background color.
  • You can automatically populate all folder icons.
  • Station will automatically launch at login.
  • Full-screen and multi-screen support.

Version 1.5.1:
  • Fixed a bug with dragging an internal item on a Station folder
  • Enhanced the usage of the modifier keys to be more consistent
  • In the folder launch dialog, the "Cancel" and "Launch" buttons have been reversed. This allows you to select the "Launch Items in Folder" menu item and then hit the return key to confirm the action.
